JImny starter motors

People of Jimny Land.. has anyone experienced a sticky Jimny starter ?

Not sure if its the starter in general as it has always made a bit of noise, or its a result of our extreme off roading ... but since the car was off teh road for a few weeks while it was fettled, the starter sopmetimes appears to stick. release the key and try again and it fires no problem. First thought the battery may be on its way out as 4 weeks of no starting had flattened it a bit but having run it for a few days, the problem still exists, which makes me think starter rather than battery as I get 11.68v at standstill and 13.8v - 14.2v when running.

If it is a starter, whats the best options ? are they easy to remove / replace ? is it worth reconditioning them or simply get a new one ?

again ... OEM Suzuki or FleaBay / Breakers ?

Any oppinions ?

I had a problem where it ran on for half a second after using it and I guessed that it was the solenoid struggling to go back in due to dirt on it, which it was.

My partners step dad runs a starter motor and alternator re-build business so I just gave him the car out of easiness (laziness) and he said it was not the easiest of starters to get out and I can see why (twin cam) and you need a few extension bars with wobbly's on to make life easier - and ideally a ramp!

I'm sure you can get it out other ways but I think it's one of those jobs you can do but will educate the neighbours about the English language whilst doing so!!!

Martin, when you had the problem with your old one, did you try it on a relay or was it just full of mud etc?

Well, time to revive an old topic.

Can a friendly owner of the Suzuki EPC confirm that the starter solenoid OEM code is 31220-63J00 for a 2007 LHD 1.3 gasoline Jimny ?

Well, managed to find it anyway - here it is in case some poor soul needs the information.

The starter solenoid for a 2005+ Jimny is called "SWITCH ASSY" and has the code 31220-86032.
