I noticed a few members have hidden winches behind the jimnys front bumper, Clinton's is the one i've seen pictures of.

Can anyone tell me what Winch Clinton actually used, model and make with the original bumper as i'm looking to do the same and rather than buy wrong i thought i'd buy right.

thanks,

Nick.

hiya mine is a champion 6500lb winch. mine is a bit different to clintons his is lower which i thought could be a problem so mine is mounted higher. you must not buy one with the solenoids in the bridge as the bumper will not fit.

hope this helps

a18suf,

Thats great info, i was worried some types like with bridged sols would be an issue.

Do you have pictures of your install behind the bumper to save me trying to reinvent the wheel.

Also where did you get the winch from.

Thanks,

Nick.

The ebay item id given is invalid, no result has been sentI have one of these on mine
cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAMSON-5000LB-12V-RECOVER...&hash=item35af0b5edf

Seems to have a decent enough pull about it for the size of the Jimny.

This is what it looks like fitted

Its fitted in a similar way to the ones in the above post, and fits perfectly between the chassis rails.

how does that winch cope in mud situations Amanda? do you straight pull or use a pulley block?

Must say that a winch behind the standard bumper looks fantastic :-)
