Gen 3 manual hubs was created by YogiBear
Hello
currently I am considering converting the vacuum hubs to manual ones
Could someone tell me that make and model that will fit without need of adapter ring.
Also was any down side after swap?
like more frequent wheel bearing failure?
Water ingest?
Other issues?
Thanks in advance!

I've been using the AVM ones for years now and they're great. The only minor downside is having to be outside to operate them but for me it's nothing as I invariably have to open a gate before I really need them or if the weather is forecast for snow I will just leave them in and just use the buttons as normal until the forecast improves. I've done about 150000 miles on 2 sets and that's only because I neglected the first ones and the current ones are due to go on my new daily when I get that far.

+1 for AVM manual hubs. I put them on my Gen 3 when the vacuum pipe started giving problems. As Lambert says you can leave them engaged and then just switch between 2 and 4WD with the switches on the dash.

Apart from the fact that they are much more positive, you know for sure they are locked in 4WD whereas the Vacuum hubs can sometimes not lock you can also leave them open and put the car in to low range to get 2WD-L which can be handy at times.
