I’ve done a search and not found anything so am asking, does anyone know what will happen to VED ( car tax) for a gen 3 Jimny come April 2025 changes? If they’re based upon emissions then what are they for an old Jimny?
if VED is going to rise dramatically then my partner wants to sell it, after 23 years of ownership.
thanks in advance
Paul.

See this article, it probably explains it best.

Cars registered after 2017 have a flat rate, but before then the VED is dependent on emissions. Just check your vehicles emissions on the V5 or on a website to see how much it will be.

However, some logic and common sense can probably be applied based on changes that have happened in previous years.

Nobody will know yet. You’ll just have to wait like everyone else in the country.I’ve done a search and not found anything so am asking, does anyone know what will happen to VED ( car tax) for a gen 3 Jimny come April 2025 changes? As your car is 1999 there were only two bands, based on engine size and you are in the lower band (under 1,549 cc) and you should currently pay £210.
No changes were announced to cars in this bracket this old so expect the VED to go up by the RPI or about £10.
There are rumours that cars creating more than 255 g/km will have a heavy increase, see theis article.
