Just installed interior side cargo rails on my Jb74 .They allow me to mount pushbike panniers fitted with QD clips on both sides of the Jimny. They are about 25 litres capacity and described as ’shopping bags’ but lots of others would fit as long as the distance between the clips and base is about 30cm .The weight when full is taken by the wheel arch area, not the rail although it is quite strong . They do not intrude on the rear seat area . I also fitted bottle holders on the remaining mounting points which firmly hold our coffee flask on one side and toolkit bottle on the other . There are numerous other small bike storage bags which will also clip to the rail if you do not want to keep the panniers in the van .Ikea open storage boxes also clip onto the rails, and probably others !Cost for the lot including bottle cradles was about £12 per side ( plus discontinued range of bike panniers which i also use on my bike!)
My ones are flat alloy but I also made up a spare set using cool but pricey carbon fibre rods .If anyone in the UK likes the idea I can let you have them including the bottle holders for £24 plus post .I am sure that a commercial company could produce something similar but they probably cost a lot more. See pictures

The round version of the side rails can also accommodate a full width (approx 120 cm width and up to 50cm depth) camp table ( handy for bbq prep) .. using Quick Detachable lock fittings but of a different design to the pannier ones …Other possibilities are a fishing rod/gun rack or a camp kitchen box …or whatever else you can come up with ! … see pictures
