If that is true about the bio fuel, I hope it is just a fuel system/engine change and they don't change anything else.

That's what I wanted when they changed to the gen4 was just an improvement of the 3 but it didn't happen.

The Gen 3 was 20 years old wasn't it? So it had a very good rum by today's standard of changing models.
The Gen 4 is still a baby in comparison

The paint-and-stickers "special edition"... so incredibly lame, yet it must fool at least some people or the motor trade would long ago have given up this sad wheeze.

A torquey little diesel, lockable centre diff, and portal axles. Now that would be a special edition.

And I'm surprised that there is even another 150 Jimnys left to sell on the Italian market! That seems like a big number compared to what we know of Gen4 sales over the years.

Ooh a jimny rocking portals and 40s, the list of places that wouldn't go would be very small!

The Mazda MX-5 special editions of the 90s, of which there were MANY, were known as "Sheerness specials" because Mazda Cars Ltd (MCL) imported basic models from Japan and pimped them up on the Isle of Sheppey, where they were unloaded from the car carriers.  Some of the quality of the bits was dire, especially the UK-sourced leather seats.

MCL continued importing Kias after Mazda set up its own European operation, but I think it's gone altogether now.

Does anyone know what ‘bio fuel’ is and where you can buy it?

I assume it is a fuel that contains no petroleum at all, so E-100.  I thought that came from crops and there isn’t enough land available to grow the base crop, not without food production suffering?

I would have thought a dual motor EV would be great for a small 4x4, but accept that the batteries might be too heavy, unless range is pathetic.  I know that range is always an issue, but would an EV Jimny with 200 mile range be enough for us, especially if it kept size and weight down?

Hasn't this been "beaten to death" already?

The eVitara reportedly weighs in at a ton more than it's petrol counterparts with a range of 243 miles, can you imagine a Jimny weighing twice what it does as being an effective off roader?

It's a shame there wasn't a special edition released in the UK for the end of the Jimnys production with a run of 200 or so as I reckon it would have sold out (I would have bought one) especially if they had gone down the route of making a Gen 4 look even more retro with a heritage edition pack sporting SJ and 90s style graphics with the rhinos etc. I'm still not sure the Jimny will return in the form we all like & know it as but we will see. I reckon we need to see some manufacturers go bust first (Hopefully not Suzuki) & get rid of this fining ICE cars business so manufacturers can then build cars people want to buy.

Whi is synthetic fuel not being mentioned by the manufacturers, if they pushed for that, they could just keep making cars as they are surely, maybe with small tweaks. And if synthetic fuel is manufactured in the large quantities then the cost will come down?

I liked the retro looking heritage edition, but the rest aren't worth any extra money at all.
if your going to do a special edition with all the after market parts out there, do a proper off road edition, give front and rear bars, factory lift, dual battery and a winch ect.
but a few stickers or a different paint scheme is a waste of money and waiting time.

But as for good news, they might be stopping them for the UK and Europe due to emissions BS, they will still be making them for everyone else.
I don't get what they mean by bio fuel compatible, as the ones sold here are already suitable for up to E20, even though you can only buy E10 here in Australia, I run mine on it and it gives me the best economy.
I'd expect the rest sold around the world to be the same, maybe just tuned a little differently.
