Many years ago I was given two options, get a decent education, spend as much of my life working for myself so as to accrue the money to live well, and realise that the world was not utopia and it was therefore far better to accept what was what and become a realist. This way I don't need to worry about insurance rates as they are what they are.
Or,
Become a pessimist, believe everybody is trying to con you and close down anybody who disagrees with your doctrine.
I chose the former.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before but I am a shepherd running an active business in the farming sector. The reality of my interaction with the insurance industry is that this year my combined premium has gone up by something like 2000 pounds. This is on a business that last year was in profit by 1000 pounds. This year I am looking at a loss. My level of risk is the same, I am just as likely to get robbed or torched or need professional indemnity as last year but yet my premium decided that an over inflation increase is a good idea.
The reality is that the hike in price of just the insurance never mind the energy costs is giving me some serious questions to answer. You want to be a realist come and take up agriculture, life doesn't get any more real than on the farm.
Quickest way to become a millionaire farmer; start as a multi millionaire. As JFK once said, farming, the only industry that buys at retail, sells at cost and pays transport both ways.

We've had 3 vehicles up for renewal in the last couple of months
All new premiums were up by at least 50%
All were cancelled and new insurance taken up with other brokers after a good price comparison
All 3 were renewed cheaper than last years premiums
The latest is my new to me Jimny
Bought this 3 days ago after a terminal failure of my Golf. We'd only renewed the policy on the Golf 3 days ago, so I was expecting getting truly shafted, but it wasn't the case.
Got the Jimny fully comp, for myself and wife, with business use for both of us for £230 and a refund back against what we'd paid for the Golf.
That was with Hastings direct.
