Difficult towbar fitting was created by Hedge-mumping-squirrel
Hi all, I have just got hold of an old towbar for my Gen 3 jimny - when I tried to fit it I found that although the bar has the usual five holes for bolts my chasses only has three. I'm unsure about drilling out the chasses for the final two bolts, partly because as far as I can see they would have to be absolutely massive. Anyone else had this problem or know the answer?'
Many thanks

Are you sure the 2 'missing' holes are just taped over, or had a plastic cap put in them? When I did the Toyota Rav4 I had to remove some form of stopper TBH it was that long ago I can't remember exactly. When I DID the Volvo C30 that had duct tape over the holes

I can't quite remember how many bolts held the tow bar in place when I fitted mine, but looking on the diagrams 5 appears to be correct, three on the left and two on the right as looked at from the rear, see the following link

Which two are missing on your Jimny? What year is your Jimny, perhaps they changed the fixings?
