Hi all,
Thought to pop in and say hi.
I'm a Jimny owner in Shetland Been lurking for a while on the site and its full of excellent information.
I own a blue gen 3 2002 jimny and love it. My wife thinks it's funny all jimmy drivers wave to each other when passing on the road.
jimny is currently in the garage getting mot work done and also the crank and cam sensors changed.
looking to add a few things soon if I can find them online as its proving difficult -side steps an A-bar- Alloys.
Cheers for now

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)
Hi and welcome.
Yes I always try and wave, but it's also a biker / Land Rover thing (Defender and Series only, not Chelsea Tractors).
Bit hit and miss with the Jimny unfortunately, tend to find it's primarily the modified ones that wave back. Well I assume they are waving, could just be steering wobble giving the impression of a wave

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.
Hi! Welcome to the Forum!
I'll wave at you too when I am out at the coast. We are practically neighbours as i live just east of you on the west coast of Norway
Most wave back here, just this one local woman so far that looks like an enormous questionmark so I stopped waving at her..
Older guys, like 70 pluss, (yes I admit that jimny is an older guys car) they love it when they get to wave back

Yes your closer than we are to the mainland Scotland and wish the Norrona still sailed here so we could visit our norse neighbours easily.
My wife always says everytime she borrows the jimny"they won't stop waving " so when I borrow her car I make sure to still wave to jimnys as I know she will be just delighted hahaha...
Been reading your blog and loving it by the way.

Hi and welcome to the Big Jimny family.
Waving is optional, I try but hardly anyone round here waves back, they probably think I am some kind of nutter.
I always fancied going to Shetland in my youth, but it wasn't the easiest (or cheapest) of places to get to and the closest I have been is Orkney, unless Stavanger or Bergen is closer?
Glad you like your Jimny, it's the right colour and I will wave if I see you coming the other way.
Robin

I don't see a huge amount of Jimny's on the road. But I'd guess it is only 2-5% that wave. So little that it is almost none. Very different to the Land Rover community, where I usually see one or two Defenders every journey I take. And if I'm in my 88 or 90 I you nearly always get a wave. Although not if you are in the depths of Wales and it is a working pickup with an Ifor Williams on the back. But pretty much any others do.My wife thinks it's funny all jimmy drivers wave to each other when passing on the road.

Hello and welcome. The majority of Jimnys I see wave back, there are quite a lot around here. I have also had quite a few Defenders wave/raise a finger.
