Finding lanes abroad

I have had a look at crossings, and it will be a big drive up there!

Never got to Try the Bergen Newcastle ferry or the Bergen iceland before they closed.
But via Denmark it is still possible but costly.
Still we see a few english cars here in the summer. I live "close" to Geiranger and the Atlantic road but Try to avoid those places in the high season. Gets way too crowded for my liking.

Been around most rypical overlanding routes in the South of Norway though the years now. South West and North still to do. I would avoid the most touristy spots during high season.

Recommend the TET track as in link above, did some of it this august during a severe weather warning, and flooding. that was fun

One of the 1,500 meter dirt roads I mentioned earlier Is the climb up to the summit of Dalsnibba. A quick check on the web shows the road to be tarmaced and (presumably) safeguarded with Armco. They even have a souvenir and coffee shop up there. That's an absolute disgrace.

That is one of the places I would not go to in the high season. it is on the "golden route" that includes Trollstigen as well. Just a couple of hours from where I live.. Had a Bachelors party there once, rented bikes wich was delivered on the top and biked down to Geiranger, great fun Been to Geiranger out of season many times. But we have so many other fjords and scenery here without the heavy tourism and stupid cruise vessels. 
and so many gravel roads where you see no other cars except the odd one from Holland. 
And for the Fjords, I come from one fjord out west from Geiranger. A little biased me here of course but much less tourism and same great views and ordinary people live there.
 

For the climbs the road up to Blåhø and Tron is gravel, there is no one there literally. and fantastic views and similar altitude. The special thing with Dalsnibba is that you get to see down into the Fjord, (nothing special). But then I see the fjords every day and is sitting in my office 5 m from one right now.
 

I'll have to come back to this thread when I start planning!

And something else the brochures don't mention is the pollution. When Viv and I were at Geiranger there were- from memory - 6 or so cruise ships, incl. the QE2 in the harbour and the diesel fug from all the generator plants hung over the town and stunk the place out.
