One thing I have noticed is if you look on meerkat for insurance to start a month away, then look again when it’s only 3 weeks and again the week before it is due the quote for the same policy goes up every time.

Moral of this is as soon as you get your renewal or at least a month before look around and if you find something go for it, as it is only going to go up.

Temeraire is the most expensive to insure because of the modified seating arrangement but last time I checked was still only around the 300 quid are with full unlimited business use for 3 drivers. The whole industry though is fundamentally corrupt. If you were liability covered by a portion of the cost of the fuel you used via the government and could then elect to have a comprehensive private policy that would be much more equitable.

The trouble with that is that good drivers would be subsidising bad ones.  Bad driving is normally a choice.

I accept they have something similar in parts of Australia.

Prices seem to be up for all cars. I need to renew my wife's insurance soon and comparison sites are coming back £75 higher than last year.

Yep, 17, that is why he never went on the modified Jimny. Used a company called Ticker I think, black box fitted, and the Twingo was the cheapest car to insure (apart from 107 / C1 / Aygo). And only £35 tax! I remember 3rd party fire and theft being cheaper when I was his age, but fully comp gave cheaper results when we looked for him.

A  black box would probably have stopped me driving around the old Basingstoke multi-storey in third gear!

I did 1000 miles approx last year, license is around 45 years of accident free driving (touch wood), no claims these past 3 years I have owned the Jimny, and my premium with Marshmallow doubled to near GBP600 this year. So I let it lapse for a few months whilst I was out of country, and yesterday renewed for GBP400 (30% up on what I paid last year) with Admiral. I got quotes right up beyond GBP900 on the compare sites.
