I did 90mph wherever possible, they sat at 60. That's a 50% difference. And because their journey took so much longer, they needed extra rest stops. I know this is quite an extreme example and not everyone wants to drive at those speeds, but it shows that speed does affect journey times.

In fairness it took me 9 hours from Harrogate to Inverness last time I was up there and that wasn't anything to do with the top speed of the Jimny but a lot to do with traffic and the average speed cameras on the A9.

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

Still doesn't add up to me IMO. I'd guess more like traffic, different route, longer stops, more stops.

Running at 90mph for 500+ miles is not a wise or really possible thing in the UK. And there is no way you'd do 570 miles and not be passing a lot of speed cameras.

Like I said, 90mph wherever possible. You can quibble about the details, but surely you can understand that the primary reason for a significantly shorter journey time was travelling at a higher speed? It's the same principle athletes use for winning races.

Running fast to win a race is legal. Driving at 90 mph is not.

I recently drove around Norways worst roads with many hills in a group of Jimnys. Surprised to see how much faster my car was than also the new jimny. Most of us was well loaded with camping gear and I had my trailer. Low gears compensate for the larger tires i got, but there is no replacement for displacement. Now that i seen in real time comparing my m16 engined Jimny to the others with 1.3 and 1.5 it clearly comes up as my favourite mod.
It sure do very well uphill.
As for cruising speeds on the highway 60-65 is my max. (with a trailer)

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.
