So I have been offered a 2002 (70k miles) Jimny for £5000. Raised , front winch, belly guard, Bulldog wheel spacers, rock slider, blue tooth immobiliser, snorkel, new King pins.

I drove it, seemed ok but know nothing.

The important bit: AA HPI suggests it has been a Cat C write off, at some point ie too expensive to repair.

recent MOTs are fine, insurance company happy to do comp insurance.

what do you guys think?..

looks amazing, must say, minimal rust that I can make out.

Whats the view: barge pole or worth a pint? And value? I agreed to 5000, before the HPI.

Many thanks indeed.

All the rust will be underneath if it has any. At that age it's definitely worth a closer look, MOTs mean nothing if it's been to a friendly MOT tester.
Not wishing to offend the off road people on here, but all those mods are a red flag to me. I would again be underneath to see if it's been used in anger or is just dressed up. If it's the latter and it truly is in good order, and you want an off road biased vehicle, then it could be good value.
As a 2002 Jimny that's been abused off road it's too much for my pocket.
Have a real hard look for rust or get help from someone on here to take a look at it with you. Where are you in the world?

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

Offroader here not offended   I would say guy is just trying to get money back he's put into it
Ask yourself what you're going to be doing with it...would you need all the mods fitted
Has it got big wheels,is it running re geared transfer box
Or does it just look the part a real offroader will be fitted with SJ transfer box
If it has been under sealed walk away this hides all the sins

Seems steep price wise for a 2002 offroader. I would have put it closer to 3k although have seen some what I think are wrecks go for nearer 5. If you like the car for what it is then go for it. Resale can be harder as being an offroader it does have limited market appeal and also many don't want to spend that much money on one (5k is probably about the max). Many sellers often make the mistake thinking that the mods up the value of the car when in fact they do the opposite so you do have to be careful that your not overpaying.

£5000 is way to high for a 21 year old, insurance write off car with a few cheap modifications. I wouldn't pay half that personally.
