I have a 20 year old JImny with 42,000 miles on it bought off my father in law when he stopped driving at the age of 90! I have had a couple of intermittment faults with it which got solved eventually, thought I'd share for the benefit of the forum. First was an intermittent misfire which got worse over time, letting me down on motorways and others. Turned out to be a cam sensor going down with the heat but coming good when cool. Suzuki dealership couldn't find it but a local garage changed ignition leads, coils and a few other bits before nailing it.
Recently I had a loss of power noticeable going uphills, needing low gear to get anywhere. No error codes showing, no leaks, temp gauge ok. Just had a new exhaust and it passed MoT emissions, but my local trusted garage suspected a cheap collapsed cat and changed it under warranty - not that. Turned out to be wires to the oxygen sensor behind sound deadening had worn through. Soldered and insulated and now all's good.

I have the similar problem, Jimny year 2002, only 60.000 km driven, requlary serviced. It is loosing power only uphill and quickly after that is turned off. No service light. Than wait for 5 minutes, and JImny is working approximately one mile driving and than again. This is hapenning driving uphill, normal city, long motorway driving there is no problem. At service they change chancles, gas pump, air filter and nothing better. This has been happening ever since I take the car from 90 years old father. He was driving it only in town and it is likely that this problem has been present for a long time, but we did not detect it till now. Last weekend I found out that there is no problem if it cools down for a longer time, e.g. half an hour. Than I can drive it uphill for a longer time uphill. Please help me, Pero from Slovenia
