Best bet for hood repairs is a boat yard, however I bet it would cost more than a replacement hood

My other car is a soft top and I can’t remember why, but I put the roof down in winter a few years ago, possibly to clear condensation, anyway the rear plastic screen cracked.

It turned out it was much cheaper to get a whole new [second hand] roof and probably quicker to change than trying to get my original roof repaired. The replacement is still going strong, but it never moves when it is cold.

How much are they new and can you find a good secondhand one?
I've seen aftermarket new In the £400 plus range, not seen many good secondhand units free from rips.

I would look at getting a few quotes for repair, just to compare prices. It could be cheaper, then it may not, it all depends how much a new / used used one will cost.

If it's stitched in it's not actually a difficult job, but you do need a heavy duty / industrial sewing machine. As well as boat yards ask interior/ seat recovering services to take a look, or anyone that can make bespoke tarpaulins.
I actually replaced my Series 2 Land Rover rear screen myself, but I am lucky that the wife is a bit of a seamstress and has a collection of sewing machines, one being a Phaff which feels like it will sew steel

Ask around. Replacement is not guaranteed to  be cheaper or better than a repaired OEM unit.
