I may need to replace the alternator on my 2002 Jimny Special. Only problem is that the M13a engine has 2 power outputs (80 or 82hp) and 2 different alternator choices. They are not compatable. So how do I find out for sure which alternator? I have engine number of course but how does this tell me which power output it is and therefore which alternator? Help!

Many thanks for your reply. In fact my local garage obtained one allegedly for my vehicle but it had a 5 rib belt pulley and mine is 4 rib. In the end I went to the "Starter motor and alternator company" in Devon where they not only had a good cross reference chart but supplied the right unit the nexrt day (22 Dec) at 119GBPounds.
