The conical spring at the base of the shaft of my gear stick has snapped. It's the spring that sits beneath a metal collar, beneath both rubber boots. It still shifts fine, but the 2>3 shift in particular is very sloppy & I have to be quite careful to get it right. From what I've managed to glean, I should be able to rotate the collar CCW to release it, then I should be able to replace the spring.

Can anybody confirm this & whether I need a specific part, or whether any generic spring of similar dimensions/firmness will do the job?
