Tyre Question was created by Whitnall
Good evening all.

I want to change the alloys that came on the Jimny, to black steel wheels.

Question is? Do I keep the current tyres, or do I change to 31/10.5/15 tyres?
I really like the look of this size in the big horn tyres with white text, but are they the best in that size?
Open to recommendations please all.

*I've ordered 2" Body lift kit and extended brake hoses for when I get home (Currently offshore in the north sea)

Here is how she looks now:-

31s will require a lot more than just a 2 inch lift. To get them working properly will be expensive as you will have to regear it significantly. Then you put 4 inches of lift into it and then do some clearancing on the body and chassis or give it a virtual lift by going mad with the angle grinder on the arches. You would probably want to truss the axle cases too and put in stronger shafts and cv's. 31s are huge on a Jimny.

Ahh okay, I didn't realise there was so much work invovled.

Just one of the lads I spoke to on insta said he had no issues with the tyre fitment on his (so far)

What is the biggest tyre that will fit without any grinding etc?

Ps - She's already on trailmaster 2" lift.

Thinking about it and looking, maybe I’m mistaken on the actual size there !

Biggest without a regear is 235.75r15 but they will stress the clutch and be plenty fast in low range causing even more clutch wear.

195/80-15 has overall dia. 705mm.
235/75-15 " " " 747mm.
31x10.50-15 " " 791mm.
705 to 791 is an increase of 12.2%. As pointed out your Jimny will not be able to cope with this. Top gear will be useless, acceleration will suffer, fuel consumption will suffer, the drive chain will suffer. You will not be a happy bunny. Your photo shows your Jimny in it's element. Please don't ruin it by converting it into a Yankee look alike jacked up Jeep.

Just to add the standard gen3 is 205.70r15 at 668mm so it gets even worse with the gen3.

Cheers guys,

Maybe I'll just change the wheels themselves and keep the 205/75/15s
