I having bother with my transfer box asked on the site and got some answers back pointing to the chain should I get a new chain fitted I know their about 300 pounds and then pay a man to fit it are should I just get a other transfer box from scrap jimny I can get one for 200 pounds is there any checks I can do to the new box to make sure it good

j999pre a forum member breaks the odd car, he may be able to help. From what I know, the old manual transfer box is pretty reliable unless you start running big tyres with no gearing change.

On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

Definitely fit a second hand one, there’s plenty about from scrappers and folks fitting SJ boxes. £200 seems a lot , sure someone would sell you one for a lot less. It’s an easy swap for a novice mechanic.

i am in n Ireland jimny breakers are very hard to find the box I seen looked very rusty other guy selling whole car for 600 would it be good buy for spares or just keep looking for transfer box
