Yes, this is what I was trying to say (badly) in my post. My MT's are remoulds but are fine with the gearing. also fuel consumption is only down a little bit, to about 200 miles per tank from about 220 before.

Thanks guys. Well im now selling some bfg MTs 215/75/15 with bugger all miles on them. These cost me about 430 quid (got receipt somewhere). I need to find the cash for new ones, plus a wheel bearing and manual 4wd hubs before i sell them but what offers you thinkin for those who are interested?

It's worth remembering that the benefit of 235/75 R15 compared to 215/75 R15s is only 15mm more ground clearance- that's the thickness of your finger! You've already got some very good tyres; given the detrimental effect it will have on the gearing is it really worth the hassle? Personally I'd sort out the gearing first.

2" body lift, 1.5" spring spacers, 235/75 remoulds on standard wheels and wheel spacers - I've had to trim the bumper and inner wings. No rubbing on steering now but the tyres can get caught up inside the wheel arches when lots of flex on which has made some maneuvers interesting (should put some extended bump stops thingies in to stop this). It has also affected the ratios, more noticeable in low ratio going up very steep obstacles (probably auto boxes wouldn't notice this so much), but nothing has beaten him yet.

As for road driving not much negative difference with the 235's handles just the same - maybe a bit more wheel wobble - and although the ride height might not have changed that much over the 215's, it feels a lot higher?!

As to fuel economy, I never got better than 200 on a full tank in standard trim - raised with my daily use 215 AT's on I'm lucky to get 180, with the 235's I get about the same! Having said that, I do tend to thrash everything I drive and never get good mpg in anything, my old automatic disco v8 got better mpg than Jimny, but it wasn't half as much fun.

I run 235/75/15 on a 2"lift, had to do some slight trimming, but have no power issues and run rings off road. Check out jungle jimny posts. The stuff i run in would be classed as high 3 to 4 grade.

I run 225/75/15 ATs on 2"inch lift with no trimming.
