I own a Landrover Discovery 2 which I use off road regulary and I'm up at Parkwood on most pay and play days. I have seen a few jimny's on my outings to Tong and have been wanting one for sometime. Recently we had a 52plate jimny traded in at work which the sales department were going to send to auction. I decided the price was right and bought the jimny before the sent it to the auction!
So the plan! Well I need to sell the Disco before the Jimny gets put on the road but I will be carrying out some modifications as I want to prove to my mates that Landy's arent the be all and end all! The things I want to do include:
Lift kit
Bigger tyres
Winch bumper
Winch
Hd rear bumper
Lock rites or similar
Rock lobster
Roll cage
Manual locking hubs (AVM or SJ)
Obviously I wont be able to do all the above in one go but over time I hope to make the Jimny into a pretty serious off roader!
I do however have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me with.
1)How big a lift should I do? 3" or 4.5"? Bodylift or not?
2)What size tyres should I be looking to get with 3" or 4.5" lift?
3)Is it posible to drive a Jimny off road in low box with the standard transfer box with big tyres, as the rock lobster is an expensive option and will take sometime to save for?
I will try and take some photo's of the Jimny and get them on here so we can see how it will progress. I have already removed rear seats in preparation for dual battery and space for my recovery gear!

You'll probably struggle with big wheels and the standard transfer box as normal Jimny low isn't that low - you'll have to charge at everything. :woohoo:
Looking forward to seeing the build

Cheers mate. I will have to charge at everything for a while then!darthloachie wrote: With a 3" lift you'll be Ok with 31" but you will need to trim the inner arches back I guess with a 4.5 and a body lift you could get 33s

If you dont mind me asking what lift do you have on your jimny? I cant wait to start the build but it may take sometime as the disco has to go 1st to free up some funds!

Hi John
Didn't know that - will have a crawl underneath and have a ganders
That explains it all as the only lift kit I could find was ora's +4.5
are you coming to Tong?
