Are they any good, I have so far only thought of them as a bit of a gimmick?

It seems really good. Being a moron at opening boxes it fell out when I first managed to get the box open and survived the drop too.
Most of the feedbacks I have read indicate the smallest one is not too useful so I avoided that one plus which I have a V6 3.5L in my little fleet!

I haven't used mine in earnest yet but the Pajero owners are raving about them. I bought the 1000 amp though; they seem to be going for the 2000 amp ones which are almost twice the price and rather overkill for my needs I think.Lambert wrote: Are they any good,

SOCKS !
To be accurate Sliknet Snow Socks for my Jimny. The current tyres are 100% summer road biased and after much consideration they are the correct ones for me. It's only ever going to see snow as I don't intend to offroad the Jimny (have Series 2 Land Rover for that), but I am aware of the difference AT or Winter tyres can offer in snow, but can't justify the cost just for the odd day we get it here in Kidsgrove.
So it has socks for the front just in case I need them.
All I need is snow, still waiting.......

You should consider moving to Stoke-on-Trent if you can still remember what snow looks like..
Gloomy and damp is all it ever seems to manage for all weather conditions irrespective of whats happening in the rest of the country. The snow socks are for my holiday in Scotland in February, "just in case"..
