Thought I'd share this with you!

My club 4WDNI , ran an interclub RTV competition yesterday, with the invited clubs being Offroad Ireland and Northern Ireland Landrover Club. When I pulled up in my Jimny (standard apart from tyres), I thought I was at a Landrover Defender meeting. Oh boy! By the time the competition got underway, there were approx 20+ Landrovers (through all stages of modifications)and approx 6 x non Landrovers (Jimnys, Jeep, Toyota, TATA, X90 on its 1st time out). Here comes the good part; joint winners at the end of the date were 2 drivers sharing another same bog standard Jimny runnign mud tyres! Me? Well I had some, ahem, bad luck!

Went to our local pay and play yesterday which was very wet and slippy (clay based soil) and amongst the 30 or so vehicles there about 20 were landrovers,
After about three hours about a third of the landies were broke!
transfer boxes, halfshalfs, steering problems etc
A poor bloke in a RAC van was there most of the day!

the only problem I had was getting out of the tyre ruts once I was in them! :S

I find the only issue we have is getting high centred in the ruts of Landrovers that have had massive tyres on and made the ruts rediculously deep. The radius arm chassis mounts get caught.

Occasionally the ramp breakover angle is not enought too and Landrovers are naturally better than Jimny's in this respect.

Bigger tyres is the only answer to both but creating the room then starts to mean cutting, which I've been avoiding.

Hi there ! I've asked this same question a couple of times.. And this seems to be the most relevant of times.
I am also looking at investing in some bigger tyres, is cutting or lifting really nessescary?
My friends dad is looking to sell his old wheels from the Landy ..? Obviously, they're ruddy massive. Am I being a dreamer?
Thanks.
