Front lower panhard nut

I guess i found out the wobble.. i cant tighten the lower panhardbolt.. cause the nut keeps turning but i cant see how to reach the nut ??

anyone?

When i have taken mine off, the front lower is just a bolt. i.e. i assume the nut is welded to the axle bracket. If yours is loose then prehaps the weld has brocken and the nuts just spinning? . Or the thread has been stripped on the nut. In terms of getting to it iam affraid i dont know.

yes should be a captive nut but its hiding under the spring mount isnt it. Mine had stripped the threads, easiest was a new axle unfortunatley.

This was the last of the bodges if my Jimjam's last owner I had to sort! (I hope!)

The nut's thread had stripped and the bolt had two small tacks of weld stopping it from falling out, so it fell out at Slindon, thank god not on the road, off road but in the car park.

My mate got a larger bolt and turned it down to the thickness of the old bolt leaving an inch of thread at the head end. We then restored the thread in the nut with a tap and it seemed fine but I didn't want to trust it, given what it holds. We then welded a nut to suit the new bolt properly to the axle bracket and tapped the correct old thread to the end of the turned down new bolt.

It was then held in by two threads and was fine. The only thing was the two threads were different pitches so they would want to thread at different rates but for that inch or less they were fine.

I've fitted another axle since and every now and then take the bolt out, grease it and the bush tubing to stop them seizing and don't do the bolt back up too tight! Something I am known for unfortunately! There seems to be my tight and other people's tight! Not that I'm tight...

the captive nut on mine had snapped off & it was a pita to get the bolt out but i somehow got a spanner wedged on the nut from under the spring mount & got it out & also got it back on again then when i decided to make some adjustable panhard rods i had same problem again so this time i managed to get welder in & tacked the nut back on

I think its a tread problem.. cause i can tighten the bolt to a moment and then it gets loose again.. so cant really tighten it like it should

got some pics up.. going to the Stealer tomorrow for a fix.. cause i cant reach it.. maybe cut the metal from the bracket to get a new nut in?

Bolt fixed problem remains unsolved..
