Heya, just finished fitting my nice new rear ORA bumper, and was chuffed with the uber cool look and realised i hadnt put my numberplate back on, i know we need a plate for legal reasons but i dont want to stick it on my nice new tough looking bumper,

Question is where have people moved theres too, i want to keep my spare tyre on the door to, was thinking a smaller numberplate design simular to the defenders and mounting just under the handle

Any ideas much appricated
Dan

Hi mate, what about making a braket to fit inside the spare wheel with a square number plate. Or on the roof. Or get a stick on one that goes on the bottom N/S of the door. I got a stick on one on my bonnet. I know stick on ones are not legal but I havnt had any problems yet. It's the exact size and reflective material as a normal plate. The original one is in the boot just in case anyone gets funny about it.

Yer was thinking of that but dont like the way it looks in the sparewheel :( getting a small numberplate simular to a motobike rear plate ( the small ones ) and mounting under the rear door handle, i need to put rear plate on it aswell tho so would need to work that out, kinda heading towards a Landrover defender style ?

I have a pair of these but in black, to go on my Rhino Rays rear bumper when I get round to fitting it.

You could use them to mount the plate to the door. Two bolts and lights as well. Neat. :)

Rays rear bumper is 'inset' for the plate similar to the standard bumper.
I will have to 'fill in' the holes for the standard plate lamps.

I got a cheap black vinyl spare wheel cover from my local car spares shop, then got a square rear number plate and a universal number plate lamp at the same place and time and a thin bit of ply cut to the same width but slightly longer then the number plate.

I then used the plastic yellow number plate bolts you can buy to bolt the number plate through the cover to the ply in the centre of the wheel cover with the number plate lamp held onto the ply via self tappers just above the plate (hence the extra length).

I then ran wires from original lights up behind the bumper, cable ties to the gas strut on the door and up into the cover with bullet connector to wires to the lamp.

It looks ok when you put the wheel cover on straight and is quickly removed.

It's a bit small in this picture but you get the idea:
