Legality of suspension lifts. was created by wanderinstar
I was talking to the bro-in-law about my new acquisition.I said that I had a 2" spring spacer kit to fit and he said, "Is that not a modification, do you have to tell insurance company about it."
Set me off thinking,is he right or not. What does everyone else do?
Ian.

Tell the insurance company. It is a suspension lift, and tell them everything that is fitted to the car that was not on it when it left the factory, including things such as towbars and window tints.

Agreed , definitely tell them everything. It's not worth the risk of finding out you're not covered because of not telling them something. I found my insurance company (Adrian Flux) expected a car like a Suzuki Jimny to have a suspension lift and did not add anything to the policy for a 4.5" suspension lift.

I've often wondered if to even list the brand of polybushs I have fitted! Try telling someone on the phone that you have castor corrected leading and trailing arms!.

Gary,
Do Idetect a hint of sarcasm.I only wondered what the rest of you did Not trying to be nit picking, just wanted to be legal. Mind you I had window tints on a Saab estate and didn't say anything:blush:

The level of detail depends on the insurance company. When I was with Adrian flux they wanted to know everything, including the name and qualifications of the fitter (no,I am not joking).
My current company just wants to know the mlleage each year as it is a limited mileage policy as well as a modified car one.
