Xmas Holiday Trips.
Heading over to South Australia on Saturday morning for 5-10 days of wandering the bush and taking in the scenery. On my own but usually meet up with other people travelling in the same direction. Mt Gambier first, then the Coorong. After that, the Fleurieu Peninsula and Granite Island. Then on to the Yorke Peninsula and the very tip at Woorooka. Biggest change from my normal touring is that I will be motelling it most of the time, with only a few days camping in the tent. This small trip will be about 3000k's.
Packing the Jimny this arvo, i have a checklist and travel fairly light, only about 52kgs of gear plus 10 litres spare fuel.
Camping stove (cartridge type)
1 litre whistling kettle (got this from UK, only boil what you need)
6 gas cartridges
10 litres water
10 litres petrol
Compartment frypan (lets you cook eggs on one half and grill on other half)
Enamel deep plate, enamel cups, cutlery and small cutting board
Collapsible chair and table
Teabags, sugar substitute, coffee/milk tubes, dunny paper
Noodles, canned food and fruit
Pop-up tent, rollup mattress, sleeping bag, pillow
8 litre fridge, mesh bag for putting beer in river
rubber mallet, small tarp of the silvered type, cord and toolkit
twin cyl air compressor (150l/min) with 3 metre coil/guage and brass tyre deflators
6 foam mats to go under tent.
Comealong with 20 metres cable and bullbag inflatable jack bag. Shovel
Self-powered torch, solar light, wind-up radio
Washing-up tub
Clothes, washing tub and hygiene bag with soap, toothpaste etc. Towels
Camera, HD videocamera, netbook, 500w invertor

Some pics from the Coorong in South Australia. 1st day temp 41C, 2nd day 43C and I was burnt to a frazzle
maps.google.com.au/maps/place?hl=en&nord...=1081768075369012992
Time for a cuppa
10.30pm and the temp is 39C, no breeze but managed to sleep from about midnight to 7am
Black Wallaby keeping an eye on me.
Just over 3000 k's so far and still travelling fine. The temp has dropped to the mid 30's so it is much more pleasant driving conditions. Used 1 litre of oil so far and averaging around 6.5l/100k's E10 95ron Petrol. The temp doesn't seem to affect the Jimny as much as it burns me
