The intake piping is just above the driver side wheel arch liner and comes out behind the headlight its not that well sealed so water will get in around the joints, i think mid way up the front bumper would be deep enough for a standard jimny, just incase any water splashes into the engine bay and gets sucked in.

air intake is just behind the drivers headlight, through the inner wing.

On a standard jimny I have been over the bonnet with the water laping up to the front screen.
BUT I had to change the gearbox tbox and axle oils. water mark came up 3/4 up the door on the side of the doors and the water at the front was from the bow wave which stayed just under the front screen.
And I was driving up a river at the time  Jimny = unstoppable :woohoo:
This was a test to see if it could do it if I had to with no mods. I would not advise it tho.

homemade ? that an idea . i got caught out once coming out of silverton , was in a 205 with k&n and no duct pipe. went slow through the flood !! shame the car coming the other way didnt , which then caused a rarther large wave to enter the engine bay and stopped the NEW engine:sick: .

I had to swim away from an sj once as I drove in a river then the car just nose dived and all you could see was the rear.. took me an hour with just two rachet straps to recover it.:pinch:
On top of that a kingdoms coach pulled up on a bridge to let an audiance of old aged pensioners to watch the whole thing.. Made their day. eventually I sent a friend to get a can of petol and I fed a pipe from it to the petrol pump and off I went.
