Engine - Cam belt or chain?

Hi Guys...

I'm a newbie to this forum. My previous experience has been with modsports and Formula Ford (It was a long time ago!)

I've recently moved to a place in the sticks with a very steep and twisty track for access so I've just bought a 2005 Jimny VVTS Engine Capacity1328cc and Engine number M13A-1485401 with just over 60,000 on the clock. Please can somebody tell me whether it uses a cam belt or chain? It's got a full dealer service history but there's no mention about changing cam belts and I reckon if it actually uses belts it's time for a change.

Also, what's the difference between VVT and non-VVT Jimnies?

Finally, I didn't get a spare key or owner's manual with it, the seller keeps telling me he'll send it when he finds it. Any idea where I can get them for a price that doesn't make me scream?

Sorry to appear a bit daft but I've never owned a Jimny before and I don't want to end up with an engine rebuild.

A 2005 vvt will have a cam chain

The M series VVT engine uses a Timing Chain so no belt change required. Believe the same can be said for non VVT DOHC M series motor fitted around 2001. Prior to that the earlier G series used a belt.

If this is wrong I am sure someone will correct me!

Phone him 3 times a day, pitch a tent in his garden, and get him to find them, is the only way. :blink:
A new key is between £60 and £100 depending on whether you get Suzuki to supply and code it, or get your own key cloned.

You will get an owners manual on eBay easy enough, could be £20 though....

hello and welcome .......im pretty sure yours has a chain so no worries there :whistle:
