Do dealers actually know the cars they sell ? was created by ooky_123
Just called my Local main dealer for an idea on the cost of new wheel studs if I cannot source some used ones .. only to be asked .. is the car 4 wheel drive ... ?
"Pardon" .. I said ...
"Is the vehicle 4 wheel drive" ? he asked ...
 Hmmm let me think about this ...
"Well it has 2 weel drive for on the road driving, and a selectable transmission via a transfer box to enable the 4 wheel drive system" .. was my response...
Suprise suprise, his system conveniently crashed .. and he'll call me back
And people trust these people ?

In fairness to them, there is a 2WD model and it is offered as a choice when you bring up the parts catalogue, however as far as I am aware it was never offered in the UK

Yes but in all seriousness ... He had the Reg of the Vehicle ... and therefore the chassis details ... They are main dealers so should know that the vehicle is a UK spec one.

I often wonder about Halfords. If they weren't so convenient I don't think they'd stay in business.
I'd rather go into a local motor factor and speak to someone who has spent half their life working on cars and the rest selling parts for them than Halfords where the staff have spent half their life building up to the day they could get their first part time job and the rest wondering if it's tea break time yet!
I'm sure there are some youngsters who are building up their knowledge on cars but I want to get advice from my parts supplier, not the other way around!
