At the moment this is still on offer. (I did hear Halfords took a bit of a hammering over Christmas with low sales, certainly there are some good value Carrera 'bikes there now)
I put some "magic fluid" (I think it is called "Snake Oil" or something) in my back axle, and went for a ride to stir the oil up and went to Halfords to pick one up, so here is my mini review.
It has a peculiar action, so you cannot jack it without the handle, it will go all the way up in 3 pumps with no weight on it, then as you load it it goes up a little tiny bit each stroke like you expect.
It is far to narrow and the frame seems too rickety to be safe really, I experimentally jacked up a back wheel quite high, then when I let it down the jack looked like it would fall over. Alright for a straight lift dodgy for one end of the axle.
It might come in handy I suppose, but I can't recommend it, even at £35. Those £15 2 tonne jacks from Aldi are much better, I use one for wheel changing without a problem, much easier to carry about too.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
I got one of these a couple of weeks ago, haven't used it in anger yet but for the money its brilliant.
I've had a standard halfords trolley jack for years and its been brilliant but a bit long in the tooth now so this seems like a good replacement.
