Alibaba Front Bumper

Hey guys,

Can anyone confirm whether they have bought/fitted this (or any other) jimny bumper off of Alibaba.com?

I'm thinking about buying one because I can't seem to find any in the UK and the rest are too expensive with shipping.

Would be super grateful if anyone had any recommendations!

Like the look of it.

Me too - I've been wanting a bumper that provides solid protection while also making the jimny front a bit more meatier. I think the front of the Jimny is its weakest point, aesthetically.

What would be the cost ? Do you know?

Does it conform to whatever regulations for bumpers in the UK?

I can confirm that they are well made. Mine is the same except doesn't have the tube to look like the ARB Deluxe.



Also very durable. Although I wanted the steel as a simple upgrade for possible off-road damage, mine was actually baptized on-road. As the traffic was stopped in the lanes in my direction, a gentleman coming in the opposite direction decided he was going to make a U-turn between me and the car in front of me. There wasn't enough room and nothing I did persuaded him not to try. The result was my bumper took out his right front headlight and provided a long deep crease across his right front fender. When I got out there was no damage to my car. Even the finish only had about 1/8 inch diameter chip.

As a side note, 9 out of 10 of the vendors on alibaba or aliexpress will bend over backward to accommodate your needs.

How easy was it to fit the front bumper? I'm not exactly mechanically inclined but I want to start learning more and more about my car so I would like to start doing small modifications on my own rather than paying for a garage to fit it.

yup..and I'm sure it will be a tidy sum too. Luckily its pretty easy to negotiate with the sellers on these sorts of sites so I reckon I can get the full price down to ~$420 so I can budget for VAT when it arrives.

It won't be type approved, but I don't know of any Jimny bumpers (or other parts for that matter) that are. That doesn't mean it's illegal, but I believe if you have an accident and it damages someone/something, or for example prevents your airbag from going off and a passenger gets hurt etc. and somebody claims against you, the onus will be on the you to prove it is necessary and that its design wasn't a contributing factor to the damage/injury. The same goes with any non-type approved parts you bolt onto your car, from lift springs to recovery points to arch extensions.

I had mine mounted at a shop and was glad I did. It went on and off 6 or 7 times before everything was lined up correctly. It took about 4 hours. There was another UK member on the forum that also purchased one. He had the same experience.
