Sell your bits!
NOTE: This is for members and their private sales/wants.
There are rules that suppliers have to follow (and many of you do follow the rules). However there have been a number of instances recently where "suppliers" have broken the rules.
Suppliers/Dealers or anyone selling with a commercial view in mind CANNOT post here unless responding to a specific request of a member in a "wanted" post.
Suppliers include people "breaking for spares" on a regular basis, when purchasing spares members should ask a supplier what they contribute to the running of the forum

Where to source a Jimny was created by mickyd
Hi all - looking to get a Jimny, and have found a lot for sale with dealers.
I am looking at '02 to '08, so there is quite a broad range.
It will be for pottering about on short local journeys, no off road, and must be automatic.
Any advice on post or pre vvti?
Should I be looking for a 'special' or a 'JLX+'?
Regarding pricing, the asking price bears no resemblance to the valuation guides from the likes of parkers, autotrader and honest john etc.
This is mainly from local dealers (of which there are surprisingly many of) who specialise mainly in Jimnys.
The only one recently up for sale on this forum was sold a couple of weeks ago for around £1500 - similar at dealers are over £3000.
Where do most people source theirs form?

Welcome to the forum. I have just got another automatic one admittedly at the opposite end of the budget range to you but I found it on autotrader. If you're able i would recommend you get a vvt they are a good motor.

Hi and Welcome,
I found it difficult to find any private sales that fitted my wants and needs when I started to look for one. I found more to look at with dealers, but even then it involved more traveling than I would have liked. In the end mine was a dealer purchase, not a Jimny specific dealer, just one that had adverts online. I had a 50 mile trip to look at it, but they did pop it on the garage lift after the test drive so I could check for underbody damage or rust. Happy purchase 15 months later, not that much more than private cost wise and they took my crappy VW in part X.
Keep looking online , gumtree, autotrader etc, keep the faith, one will turn up.
As to which trim level, not sure really. Alloys, aircon and Leather "type" interior appear to be the noticeable differences between trim levels, but can't say one is better than the other. They are all noisy and lack any gadgets

Actually I'm in Halifax, so quite close to Wyke.
They only have an X reg though (in auto), which is older than I wanted.
I did look at another dealers in Halifax yesterday, but the stock was a little shoddy.
I'll keep looking though
