As part of the migration and also as part of the performance review that includes "session timers", you will have seen I have noted that the database has grown very large. Therefore I have had to perform a dramatic user "prune".
All unactivated or blocked accounts that have not been accessed in the last 6 months have been removed.
Unactivated accounts are ones that have never been used
Blocked accounts are accounts that have been restricted for some reason, as no query has been received about these accounts and they have not been used then they have also been deleted.
Sorry for this dramatic approach but these have been causing issues.

Hi Martin, I appreciate your forum has been going for many years and that spammers etc will have caused you problems, but is there not a risk that you are losing genuine members with what you are changing?
Yes I was one of those and thanks for letting me back on the board. Why could a jimny owner from five years ago not be able to use their same login to get back on the forum?
I understand you are much more IT savvy than I am, however I wonder about longstanding Jimny forum members being cut off from their access to the forum.

Hi Dan
It was a hard decision but the criteria of people who have never activated their account or have been locked for six months without noticing should ensure that the cut was "fair".
They can use the same login as the original has been deleted so the login is available to use. However that login is not linked to any previous posts because they are not attached to the same underlying ID. If a someone has been caught by this they can create a new account using their old name and if I can find their old ID I can manually re-attach to to the old ID .

The way I read that was that two categories of users were being purged, those who had registered but not activated their accounts, and users who had their accounts blocked and not taken action to unblock them for six months.
Users who were simply "dormant" or "inactive" were not being purged.
As an administrator & moderator on other forums, I would consider this perfectly acceptable.
