Anti-Spam

I have increased the Anti-Spam measures on the forum tonight.

With having to manage literally hundreds of spams a day, this was taking up all my time

However, this may affect your ability to log into the site. If your login has been associated with spam in the past then you may well be blacklisted. Each and every log in is checked against a blacklist and rejected if there is a match on IP address or Email address. If you have had a virus infection you computer may well have been used as a spambot to generate spam messages. You will have to take steps to get yourself removed from spam lists.

I've never seen spammers on there!

Well hopefully it has stopped for now as the latest upgrade seems to have not only stopped the postings to the board but also have stopped the postings you do not see which are caught in the spam trap. There were none overnight.

I would guess that they have fine tuned their processes to catch the spam, which I am still working through here.

However it is probably also to do with international reach. Looking at the statistics BigJimny is pretty popular and the spammers try to hit popular sites. We have had peaks of hundreds of members online at once.
