I am setting up another website and have an issue with the "look". I am in discussion with a templating company about a problem with a template. Unfortunately they do not see the issue when using a number of different browsers to access the website. I guess that BigJimny readers have a wide selection of browsers and wondered if you could take a quick look and answer the poll, if you see the wrong version it would be interesting to know the version of your browser.

The website is www.sportsboat.org.uk

The WRONG version of the template looks like this....NOTE HOW TRANSPARENT it is.

The CORRECT version of the template looks like this....NOTE HOW MUCH DARKER THIS IS.

Look at the block in the middle, in the correct version its dark meaning that the text is readable, in the light version it is clear making the text unreadble.

As I have paid for the templating I am arguing that it should work properly!

it will be caused by differences in the interpretation of css between the browsers, and or the incompatibility of <div> attributes.

looking at the html source code there are about 10 different css files,

i might have found the issue, find the <div class="custom_ms3|color|black" > and take out the two | as far as i know it should have spaces between different class declarations.

i might be wrong tho, I dont use joomla. i code it all myself....

EDIT: i think i am wrong. it looks like its a call to load black backgrounds, but it still might be the issue, with older browsers and IE especially. try setting background-image:('image'); in the style= of the div. with image being the path to the background file, i expect it will be a .png or .gif

EDIT AGAIN: I think the file is called fletcha-black.png

its hard too see it on my phone lol

Your a good detective, its the background image calls we are looking at.

Their latest suggestion is

.featured1-wrapper, .cont-style, .footer-int {
background-image: url("../images/bg-lihover.png") !important;
}

if it helps, but this is not working.

THe interesting bit is that the same browser (and same version of same browser) gives different results. A number of people have used ie8 at got different results
