Introduction
This article describes all the front grille accessory options for Jimnys 3 and 4, and how to install some of them.
Accessory front grille options for Jimny 3
For Jimnys 3 built from 1998 to 2012:
- Suzuki has a set of five rings for the five front grille openings in the hood.
- They are available in the typical chromed finish and in a very rare "ivory" finish.
- Chromed set P.N.: 99000-990YB-726;
- Ivory set P.N.: 99000-990YB-727;
- Suzuki also has the large chromed cover / surround with five large holes, for the entire front area of the bonnet where the five grille holes are located.
- This accessory appears to be quite hard to find;
- P.N.: 99000-99064-483;
- Suzuki also has the large chromed line-perforated cover for the entire front area of the bonnet where the five grille holes are located.
- This accessory appears to be quite hard to find;
- P.N.: 99000-99064-566;
All of the above accessories simply glue onto the surface of the bonnet. They are supplied with pre-installed automotive grade double sided adhesive tape when delivered new.
For Jimnys 3 built from 2012 to 2018 (which have separate front grille from the hood):
- Suzuki has an chromed grille which replaces the factory front grille.
- It has the same shape as the stock grille.
- P.N.: 99000-990C5-006;
Accessory front grille options for Jimny 4
- Suzuki has an accessory grille (gloss gunmetal grey finish with black honeycomb mesh and 'Suzuki' logo in white).
- It replaces the matt black standard grille (with vertical slats and stylised 'S' logo).
Grille replacement on Jimny 3
The replacement procedure generally consists of completely removing the stock front grille and installing the chromed front grille in its place, using the original clips and screws which had held the stock grille in place.
Replacement should be dead simple to do - just standing in front of the vehicle on a parking lot and using only bare hands and suitable screwdrivers.
Grille replacement on Jimny 4
- From under the bonnet remove two plastic push rivets by prising out the centre pins using a small flat-head screwdriver.
- At the bottom of the grille in the lower horizontal slot release two clips (Philips screwdriver, quarter turn).
- Once those are done there are a series of trim clips around the indicator area and along the top edge. Just pull firmly.
