abs light was created by 1298chrism
Hi all , i have just changed the kingpin bearings and seal on my 05 v v t jimny and now my abs light stays on. At the same time i did remove the battery and i don`t know if this caused it to stay on. Maybe i damaged the abs sensor or wire in the prossess. I have an mot due soon so need to get it sorted , does any one have any idea`s ......Thanks Chris.

If there is no obvious damage it may just need a reset, have a run around for 20 mins this normally does the trick

Undoing the battery for 30 seconds deletes ECU codes so it might help with this but I suspect your sensor / wire is damaged or it's not aligned properly.

Hi just resurrecting this old thread. How fragile are the abs sensors? Just done king pins on 2006 Jimny broke sensor retaining bolt and plastic collar removing offside sensor and persuaded to refit by with the end of a hammer shaft. I drilled out the old bolt and replaced it with a self tapper. I left the nearside in place and was careful not to stress the wire. All back together and the abs light is on, I've driven about 10 miles and disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes but it's still on. How critical is the gap between sensor and ring as I think the off side is now slightly further away, could light tapping with the end of the hammer shaft have damaged it? Is there any other reset method or what kind of obd reader reads abs codes as my cheapo one doesn't?
Cheers,
John.
