when mine failed they gave me 14 days for retest
previous mot was still in date and ran it for 7 days fixed it and had retest
just ring mot station and they will advise on what can and can not be done
also if they are nice you could ask them to try emissions test before they book it onto system
because if they book it online and it fails again that's your free retest gone
so you will have to pay full price when you return

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
When I tried that, because I read something on here about getting the rev counter to go past 4000, the crank pulley, which had been hanging on very nicely thankyou. came apart
