Removing the spare wheel was created by Jimny_2000
Bought a Jimny (X reg) some 6 months back.
But only recently have l tried to remove the spare wheel.
My Jimny has 4 alloys and l have the locking wheel nut key.
But the spare wheel is a standard steel wheel held on with 3 nuts. 2 bolts l can remove with the standard tool provided. However one bolt has a silver cap on the nut so the standard tool head cant fit it. Also it seems to spin if l get a bigger socket. Im assuming it's a security device, so people cant steal the wheel easily.
Now i ring up a dealer to ask, and if so can l buy the tool required, and they have no idea and just saqy bring it in.
Can anyone shed any light? Is this the standard security but everyone else has?

Take that silver cap off - might have to use something to grip it, underneath is probably a special nut with a rotating ring round it. You could try cutting that rotating ring off with a small cold chisel and a FB hammer. Then bray an old socket on with the same big hammer - might be worth a shot as a last resort. Hopefully someone with a better idea might be along shortly

That is what I had to do as I was in exactly the same situation. The locking wheel nut on the spare was not a Suzuki one and had no code to get a key and I could not identify it's manufacturer.
I knocked of the bit that spun freely with only a small hammer and screwdriver as it was terible quality and then attached my biggest mole grips and undid it.
As had been suggested though, if that doesn't work, find a socket that doesn't quite want to go and and then encourage it to do so and see what happens!
There are tools freely available to get locking wheel nuts off if you really can't get it off though, I think Machine Mart sell some. All I would say about using a BFH is that you don;t want to damage the rear door when hitting it!

I don't think he has got to the stage of using a socket to drive the locking nut off. I think you just need to pull the decorative shiny cap off of the locking nut first. It can take some pulling.

I spotted the silver cap bit, just pre-empting the next stage in the exercise! I guess it's probably sorted now any way.
