Boot jack was created by jimnyonhigh
Hi guys

I need a jack for the car as it did not come with one, i have a trolley jack in the garage at home.
Could you recommend me a jack to go in the boot of the car.
The Jimny has a 4 inch lift, and i understand the stranded boot jack that comes with the car are really rubbish.
Could somebody point me in the right direction or give me advice where to get a good boot jack and how much i will be looking at.
Just need a simple jack in case i have a flat and need to put the spare wheel on.

A simple bottle jack is a good upgrade and plenty about for less than £15

Thanks for the reply Reaper, would a HEAVY DUTY 2 TON HYDRAULIC BOTTLE JACK LIFT be ok or should i get a higher ton, like 5 ?

Just want something simple incase of a puncture.

You may find that that jack does not have enough lift to raise the wheel off the floor high enough to get an inflated tyre on, starting with a flat tyre.

I have the jack out of a Rangerover/Discovery, 2000kg lift, two sections, and a shaped saddle to go around the axle tube. Cost £10 from a Landrover breaker.

Bit big for the tool tray, would need strapping in somehow.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

If you jack from the hockey stick you wont need much movement to get the wheel up in the air , i swaped the stock tyres to 32's with the factory scissor jack :-)

I bought 1 of these, didnt use it, threw it in the shed. Simply because that saddle thingy is about the size of a 20p! If it had a bigger 1 it would be ok for a wheel change, just have to put it straight under the radius arm.
