I was a bit surprised to see that there is no official parcel shelves for Jimny's and given that my laptop goes in the boot to and from work it would be nice to have it under cover if I go to the shops/pub on the way home.
I thought I would make one.
The finished article fitted in my 2011 SZ3
It is made from 5mm plywood with curved wood trim to the top, thicker to the bottom and a strengthening wood stringer
Close up of the edge. The wood strips on the top stop items moving
Then it is wrapped in a leather grain vinyl wrap (from B&Q) with a few bits of foam on the bearing points.
Total cost plywood £13.40 and wood trim ~£6 (Wickes), wrap £5 (B&Q), the foam I had. It took me quite a while to make, cutting out, glue, but the wrap took almost the longest and needed a gentle heat gun to get it to sit round the corners.
Let me know if you want the dimensions.

Tidy job there, thanks for sharing
In the first few pics i thought you had plastic vac formed it as it looks so thin and has the bits outside of the top bumps to fit properly. Very nice work

Thanks guys,
I am slightly impressed with the leather grain vinyl, or 'stick back plastic' if like me you are old enough to remember Val Singleton on Blue Peter.
No IPR on this, copies welcomed.
(The missus reckons I should quit my well paid job and start making these until I told her how long it took to make and I will need another big shed).
