Green laning / anti social 4x4 use was created by Rodden87
Just had the displeasure of watching a short section of a bbc1 south programme called street patrol uk! During this programme there is a big peice of evidence that anti social 4x4 use, trespass, damage to private land and straying from by-ways only results in the closing of by-ways and destroying the use of by-ways for 4x4! As an keen laner please people if you or you know of people that do please make people use lanes correctly or just go to play day!
Sorry rant over!!

Totally agree. Whenever I go out laning in Surrey, I make a point of giving way to all walkers, cyclists, horses (horses I would anyway) etc, and I make a show of it as well, as well as crawling along the tracks rather than spraying mud everywhere.

I won't give any of them any grounds to moan

The few always ruin it for the many.

Agreed, it is a shame. Too many of our activities are under threat. Was the programme for or against the activity?

Probably against. These things never show the positives.

Must say the programme didn't blame all 4x4's! Just the anti social use of them they did make quite a few reference to people ruining it for sensible users of green lanes!

Trouble is these progs often seem to have a downer on things like this. Damn nanny state.

Like most things its always the few bad apples that spoil it for the rest,i didnt see the programe.best thing to do if you see any foul play whilst out and about is get reg numbers photos if possible and report it.there was a small debate on tor's fb page about this subject,a couple week back said it was going to be in this months issue.

Similar thing happened a few years ago about modified car owners. There was a documentary including a section about how 'deadly' loud exhausts were, even had a list of the ten most 'dangerous' modifications. It was laughable.

As we all know a majority of modified car owners are responsible, there cars are there pride and joy. Same case of the muppets that couldn't give two hoots about the 'scene' shall we say, ruin it for the ones that are really passionate about there hobby and stick to the rules, most of whom would be horrified to find out they were causing people problems and do everything within there power to prevent this.

I think the worst thing about these programmes is the fact that the media jump on the band wagon and see an opurtunity for a story, they don't care about us, what we do wether it's modify cars, ride motorbikes, greenlane, ride trials. It does anger me but I doubt it will ever change.

I just make sure I don't take the pee, keep myself legal/polite ect and hope that people don't have aby reasons for a row.

There will always be some though. Shame really.
