Yes, due to popular demand we have organised a BigJimny Meet event on June 14th 2026 at  Parkwood 4x4 (a.k.a Tong) which is between Leeds and Bradford in West Yorkshire. This is a meet-up with 4x4 off-road drive around event. This is a social meet along with the opportunity to drive your vehicle off-road on a site where there is something for everyone. So its time to put it in your diary as this is a not to be missed event.

This is an event for all vehicles, from shiny to fully tricked up. It is also a social event with overnight camping and a great vibe for those wanting to simply hang around with fellow Jimny enthusiasts. The event location is Parkwood 4x4 which is often called "Tong", the postcode is BD4 0RR. This is one of the largest off-road sites in the UK and has a variety of firm tracks through to extreme testing terrain. There will be a burger van during the day for breakfast, snacks and lunch. We will be also organising toilets and wash facilities for the camping area.

All participants must be pre-booked, turn up ad-hoc on the day will not be permitted. General spectators are not permitted as there is only limited space. Everyone attending should have a seat in a booked vehicle and that seat should have appropriate safety provision (seat belt, child seat, harness etc.)

Booking is PER VEHICLE and it is £45, there is a multi-vehicle discount for VEHICLES BOOKED AT THE SAME TIME so gather your friends together and make a single booking to save.

Additional drivers/passengers with the same vehicle are free, we are setting the limit on tickets to 140.

BEFORE YOU BOOK - You can ask questions etc. in the forum here: - FORUM DISCUSSION

ONCE YOU HAVE BOOKED - There is a WhatsApp group just for this event (no Technical Support or general Jimny Chat) - Please email  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your entry number and mobile number to gain  access

VEHICLES

Trailered vehicles are permitted, however this is a family drive around event so do not come if you expect to blast around in a "scrapper". BigJimny and the site owners reserve the right to refuse entry to vehicles that appear to be little more than scrap. There has been a rise in recent events(not BigJimny events!) where people have brought along a scrapper to destroy, this is not what this event is about.

As with any motorsport or motor related event, there is a small element of danger. You are responsible for driving in a safe manner. The event is suitable for beginners and shiny cars but you should be aware that there is always a chance of a puncture or foliage scratches dependant on how you drive.

5/10/09 - Fixing a vacuum hub in the field

A common problem in "Jimnyworld" is to travel to an off-road event only to find that you cannot select 4WD. Either the hubs are stuck or the vacuum has "escaped". For more details on the hubs see my "How to guide"

You usually only find this out when you get stuck in the simplest of mud puddles whilst an appreciative crowd looks on and crys out "Put it in 4WD, mate!"

Normally this signals the end of your day out before it has even begun, but not if you invest in one of these tools.....

...an E10 Torx socket (see www.halfords.com for an example price). You should carry one of these AT ALL TIMES anyway as you will need it to cover you for any drive shaft issues.

Put the car in 4WD. Remove the 6 bolts around the hub using the above tool. The picture below shows an UNLOCKED hub

Reach inside the inner ring with a finger. Wiggle the inner ring from side-to-side and gently pull it forward with you finger.

It will suddenly spring forward into the LOCKED position (see picture below.

Now simply gently replace the hub (making sure you engage the splines without pushing to hard on it) and bolt it up. If necessary repeat for the other side.

Reversal is simply the opposite procedure. Put the car in 2WD. Remove the hub. If it is still locked then gently push the inner ring down, it will resist against the spring but then click down into the unlocked position.

I did this last Sunday and in less that 5 minutes saved a days off-roading.
