Hi there been a member here for a good while but more a lurker than a poster.
Think my clutch is slipping again. It's an 2001 and I bought it about 4 years ago. Running great except for minor issues. The only problem I have is I have already put 2 clutches into it and now possibly a third. I have fairly large mileage.
Would the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain be the cause of this. Or does anyone have any other ideas
Thanks

Not sure of the make of clutch but it's a spurious one in a blue box

tyres should not be causing the problem
have you tried adjusting the clutch cable
give an exedy clutch a try and maybe a new cable
just in case your cable may have frayed and stopping the clutch from disengaging

How many miles are you getting from a clutch then? It won't be the tyres. I run the same tyres, do lots of towing and had a 1.6 in my last Jimny and haven't worn a clutch out in 50,000 miles.
What are the symptoms of the clutch wearing out? What is your driving style? Do you get that characteristic hot clutch smell very often?
As Jack says, slacken off the adjuster on the side of the gearbox and see if it makes a difference.

I've just gone from stock sized tyres to 215/75. My OEM clutch had a very slight amount of slippage before the tyre change, but now after the change it is slipping quite significantly.
The vehicle has 70k on the clock, and not sure if it's still on original clutch, so it may just be the bigger tyres unmasking a worn clutch.
I'd recommend getting an Excedy clutch though, had one on my previous Jimny and it never slipped, even after working the vehicle hard through mud, water, etc.

Thanks for the replies.
I will get my mate to have a look at the cable as he is a lot handier than me at that.
Also there is a typo above. It should say "I don't have fairly large mileage"
Only about 10,000 a year

Not the cable. Clutch well worn. Put a LUK one in as Excedy would have taken 3 days to get to me.
