Front wheel bearings. was created by 1066Boy
Hi all. I have to change the N/S/F wheel bearing soon as its getting rough. Is it worth doing both sides at the same time?
The O/S/F one is ok at the moment but both are the original ones. :)

I've generally found NS bearings don't last as long as OS. I wouldn't replace the other side until it needs doing.

You will NOT be able to replace the front wheel bearing without a special tool to undo the locking nut. Martin sells a compatible replacement tool in his store.

Not exactly true.
Easily done with a hammer and a rounded chisel or similar. I always use this method as I don't own that special tool.

But I bet you have manual hubs. Even the smallest of nicks in the machined edge of the nut stops the vacuum hubs working. And how do you torque it up?

Yes I have manual hubs. Makes good sense about that thing with vacuum hubs.

Don't use torque wrench for the hubs nuts. No need for that. It's quite easy to get a feeling of just by hand.
