2007-applicable wiring diagram - specifically OBD-II connector? was created by NickR
Hi,
Does anyone have details of the full pinout of the OBD-II connection on a 2007 UK Jimny? I have a copy of a Jimny service manual and wiring manual, but it appears to only cover up to the interior refresh, as it still shows the DIN radio, and does not have the standard J1962 connector for OBD-II. I am really after which communication protocol is used in the car, so which pins are connected will tell me that - if anyone already knows?
If not, I will see if I can contort myself enough to see which wires go to the back of it, and attempt to deduce from that if they are visible.
Thanks in advance
Nick

Hi,
I had a look under and identified the populated pins. For any future forum searches, my 2007 Jimny has the following populated.
Pin 9 - Yellow with black - Vendor option - SDL?
Pin 4 - Black with silver - Chassis ground
Pin 5 - Orange/black - Signal ground
Pin7 - White/pink(?) with green - K-Line ISO9141-2 or ISO14230-4
Pin 16 - White - 12V
I assume the OBD-II compliance comes from the K-Line, with SDL being there from earlier architecture.

The ECU diagnostic link uses KWP2000 for both OBD2 and 'OBD1'. SDL is used for the immobiliser link to the ECU and diagnostics.

Thanks Rhinoman,
I was hoping for CAN as my little project already has a spare CAN interface. I shall have to find the best way to get KWP2000 to serial conveniently. Does the Jimny publish anything on SDL that is not available via KWP2000 that you know of?
I am not really interested in the error codes, more looking to get any handy live info from PIDs etc, so I can display it in the car. Standard PIDs like battery voltage, rpms etc are easy, but it would be great if there is anything published like wheel speeds (perhaps from the ABS) or the status of the 2H/4H/4L modes/actuators.
