Facelift rear seat folding? was created by X8GGY
Had to take one of my Labradors to the vets tonight...
So I was seeing how the rear seats fold... or don't?
Is it just me or does the bench not fold up? The back of the seats fold down over the bench but don't sit flat, and there's a big step down into the 'boot' behind the seats? Not very conducive to large dog transporting?...
Or is it just me not folding properly? I was in a bit of a rush!

Nope, that's the issue with the later ones, poor design

They don't fold flat with the squab in, Dave...pull it out and the seats will then lie flat
But you're still left with the step -down

Grip one front corner of the squab with 2 hands and pull firmly upwards then do the same on the other side and it will easily pop off.
I store mine vertically behind the front seats with the cut out over the central tunnel.
It's no real problem. It is slightly slower than folding but not by much lol
I also remove the rear headrests and put them under the front seats.
Mine is virtually down all the time and just put it back on the odd occasion when I carry extra people.
For that reason I never built a flat floor but modified a standard canvas type boot liner to fit and can easily be removed to use the rear seat.

Yes, thanks, I popped one corner up and thought "Hmmm, that's not right"
Bad design for Suzuki? Speaking to my Mumsie this morning, and her SX4 is the same?... Tut tut...!
I'll come up with something to make it a bit more usable, when the lifts are finished...

Something like this...
So that there's a permanent storage box in the 'boot' with a bi-fold floor hinged off it to cover the seats when they're flat, and reach to the back of the front seats... and covered in black rubber like Gus's lovely floors...

The bottom of the thing has a lid to access items in the jack well.

I notice that this drop in the back is commonplace with a lot of new cars. What you are looking for is what I have in my Junior. They might even fit the Jimny as the vehicles are much the same size.S200KYS wrote: Something like this...

I had a small shelf running across mine at one time. Easily knocked up with a few bits of wood.
