The outer bracket has an L-shape fold in it Dan Inner bracket is 4mm thick flat as it only just sits proud of the chassis rail for the bolts to go through... the outer is 3mm with the upstanding fold for strength, as I've bent a 5mm one (offroad) before now!
That's my 'onroad' version... the offroad version will be listed tonight along with a load of other parts that came back from plating today... I'll be fitting one to S200KYS real soon, as it'll be the mother of all brackets... think girder and you're halfway there!

A shock is made to work vertically not horizontally. And especially twintube shocks, as most cheaper shocks are, are meant to work only with with reservoir down.
Also, most shocks are not valved identically on compression and rebound. So perhaps they're not working with the same force left/right if used as steering stabilizer.

With that said. Haven't felt the need for such stabilizer. But haven't tried one, so don't know anything about it

I found that it stiffened up the steering nicely, but a little too much as the steering wheel wouldn't centre as you drove in a straight line and would continue to turn the car slightly left or right depending on the last direction it was turned. It's been on my bench in the garage ever since!
They appear to work for others though.
2012 Jimny Black. Totally standard (except for rear seat removal mod).
