A Jimny good turn

Years ago I had a gold W reg gold single cam Jimny. I bought it from the mother in law and sold it to another of her family and it's now in the custody of the mother in law's best mate.

She came over to the mother in law's today and asked me to take it for a drive as the gearbox was vibrating after a recent clutch change and exhaust. She feared an expensive repair.

I took it for a drive and heard a heat shield vibration. "That's it" she said.

When we got back I popped the bonnet, hoping to see it from above as it was raining and I didn't really want to lay on wet shingle. I could immediately see a bolt missing from the heatshield on the exhaust manifold and with a gloved hand felt the heatshield to find it loose as a result. Then to my surprise I saw the missing bolt on the engine mount.

I popped it back on as I had my Jimny and tools and problem solved! No expensive bill!

Exactly! Only it's not long had one! Doesn't stop people trying it on mind!

She certainly was chuffed!
